LEAD HITTING AND CATCHING INSTRUCTOR
Ben Long attended Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School where he was an All-Conference Catcher and Team Captain.
Long started his college career at MATC-Madison where he was selected to the All-Region team as a catcher, voted most valuable offensive player, and holds the career RBI record. After two years at MATC, he then transferred to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and made 2nd Team All-League as a designated hitter in his first season with the Panthers. In the summer of 2009, Long played for the Madison mallards and the Wisconsin Woodchucks and was selected to the NWL All-Star Team. In Long’s last season at UWM (2010), he was selected to the Horizon League All-Tournament team, lead the Panther’s in RBI’s, and UWM qualified for the NCAA tournament. After his collegiate career, Long was selected to the UWM 20th Anniversary team as a DH.
Long started his coaching experience with Elite Baseball Academy where he developed his coaching skills from 2008-2011. Long also stayed with UWM in 2011 as the volunteer assistant coach where he primarily worked with the catchers. In the summer of that year, Long returned to the NWL and the Wisconsin Woodchucks as an assistant coach. With the Woodchucks, Long was the first base and catching coach.
Currently, Ben Long is a Lead Hitting and Catching instructor for Sanfilippo Baseball. He works with both baseball and softball players to develop their hitting and catching skills.
